Privacy Policy

Who I am

My website address is: https://www.stevekrizmanauthor.com.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, the system collects the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on my site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the same way as if the visitor had visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who I share your data with

I don’t sell, rent, or trade your information. I use a small number of services to run this site and my newsletter, and each one handles your information under its own privacy policy.

Kit (my email service). When you sign up for sample chapters or my newsletter, your email address, and your first name if you give it, are stored with Kit. Kit sends my emails and tells me which ones are opened and which links are clicked. I use that only to send you things you’re likely to want. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email.

BookFunnel (free samples and bonus content delivery). After you confirm your sign-up, you’re sent to BookFunnel to download the sample chapters. BookFunnel handles the download and may record basic technical details, such as your device type, so the file works on your reader. I don’t send BookFunnel your email address.

Booksellers. When you follow a “buy” link, you leave my site for a link page run by IngramSpark, Draft2Digital, or Books2Read and then to the store you choose. Those companies’ own privacy policies apply. I don’t share your information with them.

My website host. This site is hosted by DreamHost, which keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses and pages visited, for security and performance.

How long I retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
